Somali cabinet holds emergency meeting in Mogadishu

Somalia’s cabinet ministers have held an emergency meeting in Mogadishu on Sunday evening after three Federal member states sided with Saudi-led bloc against Qatar.

Somali PM, Hassan Ali Khaire has chaired the meeting, which was discussed on unspecified issues, regarding the GCC crises and the regional administrations’ decisions.

The Somali Federal government took a neutral stance on the Gulf diplomatic rift in June, and rejected calls to support Saudi-UAE allies in cutting ties with Qatar.

Puntland, Southwest and Galmudug announced they sided with Saudi’s alliance and condemned the government’s neutral position, saying it was made without consultation.
