HirShabelle State Parliament votes for new President

The lawmakers of Somalia’s southern Federal State of HirShabelle are voting for new President on Saturday, Sep 16th, 2017, to replace ousted leader Ali Abdullahi Osoble.

The MPs are casting their votes among 8 candidates competing for the presidency in a hotly contested election began early in the morning in Jowhar town.

The security of the city has been beefed up ahead of the Presidential election, which becomes the second vote since the establishment of the administration by the end of 2016.

Last August, the state legislators voted out Ali Abdullahi Osoble, 1st elected President after he was accused of incompetence and lack of collaboration.
