Somali, AU forces carry out joint operation in Hudur town

Somali government forces, along with African Union peacekeepers (AMISOM), have launched a joint security operation in the southern town of Hudur on Friday.

The local authorities said the sweep was aimed to stamp up Al shabaab militants waging attacks against the government controlled town, and nearby areas in Bakol region.

The allied troops set up checkpoints in the outskirts of Hudur, to prevent Al shabaab members from entering the town, disguising local residents to carry out attacks.

No arrest has been reported during the manhunt, which comes days after the Somali troops captured alleged Al shabaab member following an special operation, reports said.
