Car bomb kills at least 1, injures 3 in Somali capital

At least one person was confirmed dead, three others wounded in a huge car bomb explosion in Somali capital Mogadishu on Thursday evening.

Eyewitnesses said the blast took place after explosives laden vehicle went off near security checkpoint outside Makka Al-Mukarama street in the capital.

The explosion was followed by a heavy gunfire, as ambulances rushed to the scene, and transported the wounded to hospital to receive medical treatment.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the bombing in Mogadishu, which becomes the second in the seaside capital in just a week.

In August 4, a car bomb exploded near Ambassador hotel in the same Makka Al Mukarama road, near the busy KM-4 junction, killing several civilians.
