Four KDF soldiers killed in land mine blast in Somalia

At least four Kenyan soldiers, serving with African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) were reported to have died in a land mine explosion near El Wak town in Gedo region on Tuesday.

Residents told Radio Shabelle that a remote-controlled roadside bomb struck a military  convoy carrying KDF soldiers at an area located in the outskirts of El Wak, killing 4 soldiers.

The explosion followed by a heavy exchange of gunfire between the KDF forces and Al shabaab fighters, with reports that both sides have suffered deaths from the fighting.

There was no immediate confirmation of the exact figures of the casualties.

Kenyan defense ministry is yet to comment on the attack, which was the latest in series of land mine blasts targeting KDF soldiers in Gedo region in the past few months.
