Somalia’s Ministry of Labor accused of corruption

The Minister of Labour and Social Affairs of the federal government Saleh Ahmed Jama has been accused of corruption and hindering efforts to reduce the unemployment of the country.

The labour Minister was reported to have stopped a World Bank supported capacity building program to develop the skills of the civil servants of the Federal government with no reason.

Reliable Sources revealed to Radio Shabelle that the Minister took the decision after failing a request to the World Bank to hire close relatives to work on the capacity building program.

Abdinur Jama Jokar, who worked previous governments said the country’s labour ministry has been shadowed corruption and nepotism, and called for transparency and accountability.
