Somali President back to Capital after Afgoye trip

Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and his delegation returned to Mogadishu after paying hours-long visit to Afgoye district, about 30Km southwest of the capital on Monday.

During his stay in the town, President Farmajo met with Southwest leader Sharif Hassan Sheikh Aden, security officials and local residents to asses the situation on the ground.

The President has traveled from Mogadishu to Afgoye by land under a tight security on the main highway linking the capital to Lower Shabelle region early in the morning.

“Afgoye residents are peace-loving, hardworking and productive. They are deserved to live in a better life,” said Somali President in a Twitter post.

It was the 1st visit to Afgoye by Somali President since his election in February 8.
