At least 10 killed as IED blast hits bus in Somalia

At least 10 people are reportedly killed, and 8 others were wounded after a remotely-controlled land mine explosion struck on a bus in Lower Shabelle region on Thursday, April 6.

Confirming the incident, Lower Shabelle governor Nur Osman Rageh said the minibus was hit by a roadside bomb aimed to attack a speeding military convoy passing in the road.

Rageh added a passenger with a critical wounds was admitted to a hospital in Shalanbood.

The bus was ferrying 18 passengers from Bulo-Marer and heading to Marka, the coastal town in Lower Shabelle region which is under the control of Somali and African Union forces.

There was no immediate claim of the responsibility for the deadly bus bombing, but the local officials blamed Al shabaab for the tragic incident, that left more than 10 civilians dead.
