Somalia’s new President officially inaugurated

Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, the 9th President of Somalia who was elected in February 8 by Lawmakers of the Federal Parliament was officially inaugurated in Mogadishu on Wednesday.

Leaders of several African nations were in attendance for Farmajo’s official inauguration, including the presidents of Djibouti and Kenya, and Prime minister of Ethiopia.

Farmajo’s predecessor Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, and former President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed attended the inaugural event, and delivered their remarks about the inauguration.

Both Hassan Sheikh and Sheikh Sharif who competed for the top seat of the nation in February 8 election promised to closely and unconditionally work with the new President.

Mogadishu streets and airport operations were locked down due to the inauguration of the new President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo who faces a daunting task, mainly security.
