Thousands stage rally in support of new President

Thousands of people, including women and children have taken to the main streets in Mogadishu on Saturday, in support of the newly elected President of Somalia HE Mohamed ABdullahi Farmajo.

The mayor of Mogadishu Hon Yusuf Hussein Jimale and other high-ranking officials addressed the demonstrators waving National flag and President’s portrait at Daljirka Monument in the capital.

“From the night of the election, until the next day, Mogadishu’s big squares witnessed large number of people in celebration with armed forces as they hail new president Farmajo with joy,” Jimale said.

The pro-Farmajo demonstrators took to the streets have placed their faith in the new President who face a daunting task, including rebuilding a battered state and restoration of peace and stability.

The people of Somalia in the country and abroad have cordially welcomed the election of former PM Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo as the 9th President of the Federal republic of Somalia last Wednesday.
