HirShabelle MP calls for security beef up in Jowhar

A member of HirShabelle state parliament Abdullah Mohamed Adow has called on police and soldiers to beef up security in Jowhar city, following killing of top police officer last Saturday.

HirShabelle parliament MPs have held an emergency meeting Tuesday in Jowhar to discuss the latest assassination of Middle Shabelle region police commander and the security lapse.

During the security meeting, the lawmakers released a statement urging local security forces to scale up covert operations against Al shabaab sleeping cells hiding out in the town.

HirShabelle state officials have been asked to protect the new parliamentarians amid rise of Al shabaab attacks and assassinations against local government officers.
