An Elder appeals for help to save drought-hit families

A Somali Elder joins his voice in the local and international call for humanitarian assistance to save millions of Somali people starving in large parts of the East African country.

Malaq Ali Malaq Abdi, the elder said the worsening drought in Somalia has left millions without food and water, appealing for an urgent help from Somali people and aid agencies.

He said there is an increase in the number of people in need, and most recently with a significant risk of further deterioration to famine in Middle Shabelle region.

UN said on Tuesday that Five million Somalis do not have enough to eat because of poor rains and fighting between Al Shabaab and Somalia’s African Union-backed government.
