Outgoing PM meets with former president in Nairobi
The caretaker prime minister of Somalia Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke has met with former TFG president Sharif Sheikh Ahmed in Naironi, the capital of nighbouring Kenya.
Sharif and Sharmarke both are presidential candidates running for president in the upcoming election that is expected to take place by the end of January, according to sources.
The election which has been postponed for four periods due to rift in the parliamentary polls will see touch race among numerous political heavyweights, including incumbent president Hassan Sheikh.
According to source, Somali PM Omar Abdirashid and Sharif Sheikh Ahmed have agreed to join hands and work mutually towards free and fair election for the country.
Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, former Somali president is currently a leading and well-liked presidential candidate competing for the country’s top seat, facing outgoing president and PM.
