UN envoy for Somalia pays a visit to Beledweyne
A delegation led by especial envoy for Somalia Michael Keating has on Thursday paid a visit to Beledweyne, the regional capital of Hiiraan province in central Somalia.
Sources said, UN’s envoy has met with clan elder Ugaas Hassan Ugaas Khaliif, Hiiraan governor and other community leaders in Beledweyne town, and discussed with them drought and reconciliation.
During the meeting, Michael Keating urged the clans elders of the region to be part of the completion Hir-Shabelle state formation, and help president’s Ali Abdullah Osoble appoint his cabinet.
The UN envoy has called on next Somali federal government and Hir-Shabelle state leaders to help the drough-hit families, address the displacement and launch a local reconciliation.
