Hir-shabelle president visits Beledweyne amid Drought
The president of the newly formed Hir-shabelle state of Somalia Ali Abdullah Osoble has arrived in Beledweyne city on Wednesday for talks with local community and clan elders.
Somali federal lamakers, including former interior and federal affairs minister Abdullah Godah Barre are accompanying Hir-Shabelle state president on trip to Beledweyne town.
Somali and African Union forces have beefed up the city’s security ahead of the president’s arrival. The president and his delegation are reportedly meeting with clan elders in the town.
During his two-day visit, Hir-shabelle state president asses the drought situation in the region, whereas hundreds of people are facing food shortages due to lack of sufficient rains.
