Relative calm returns to Galkayo after deadly clash
A relative calm returned to the central Somali city of Galkayo， where clashes between rival forces from Puntland and Galmudug killed 5 people, and injured dozens on Friday.
Fighting broke out on Friday and both sides have exchanged heavy and small weapons, including mortar shelling that continued for hours, killing at least 5.
The conflict renewed despite a ceasefire brokered by agreed between the state leaders and signed on Nov. 1 under the mediation of International community.
Latest reports suggest that local elders have began efforts to de-escalate the tension and bring an end to the fighting in Galkayo town.
The divided town has been plagued by recurrent clashes between the neighboring federal states that are fighting for its control.
