Al Shabaab militants raid police station in Wajir town
Three police officers have been injured, after a gang raided an Administration Police camp in Kwale County.
According to reports, a gang of eight raided Kombani AP camp in the early hours of Friday morning, December 23.
The eight man gang is said to have been armed with pangas and poisoned arrows.
The AP officers killed one of the attackers and prevented them from entering the camp which is situated along Lunga Lunga-Likoni road.
Kwale County Commissioner Kutswa Olaka said the gang members had not been identified but their intention was to steal guns from the camp.
Okaka said they suspect the attackers could be al-Shabaab or the Mombasa Republican Council (MRC) members.
Police have launched a manhunt for gang, who are said to have been injured after the botched raid.
The injured officers were taken to Palm Beach hospital in Mombasa for treatment.
One of the police officers is reported to be in critical condition at the hospital.
Al-Shabaab militants have in the past year been involved in several attacks on police stations in Wajir and Garissa County.
