5 killed in Blast at security checkpoint in Mogadishu
At least five people, including two soldiers were killed, and several others were wounded in a deadly land mine blast in Somali capital, Mogadishu on Thursday afternoon.
Somali police officer said the blast has resulted from a remote-detonated bomb concealed under a tree near Ex control Afgoye checkpoint.
Those killed in the deadly attack, include two children a woman who were nearby the scene.
The blast was the second in Mogadishu in a day. A bomber in car packed with explosives went off at the gates of Village restaurant popular with journalists near the national theater.
No group has yet claimed credit for the two attacks, but police said they believed Al shabaab, the Somalia-based Al Qaeda-linked militants were responsible for the carnage.
