Ahmed Da’i, former Wadajir district commissioner has accused the country’s indirect federal electoral commission of election fraud, coercion and prejudice.

While speaking in an interview with Radio Shabelle, Ahmed Da’i said he has witnessed an unprecedented corruption in Hir-Shabelle lower house election in Jowhar town.

He added many MPs allied to the president were elected after the electoral delegates were given large sum of money in exchange of the their votes.

“The outgoing youth and sports minister Mohamed Abdullah Nuh has retained his lower house seat in a corrupt election as he was disqualified,” he said.

The minster of youth and sports has been elected in a snap election in Jowhar, days after the electoral commission banned him from competing for the seat.

Mr Nuh has been accused of committing electoral violence at the polling station in Jowhar, where his security guards wounded 3 people, including delegates.
