President seeks votes of the MPs from Jubbaland
The outgoing president of the federal government of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has paid one-day visit to the capital of the southern semi-autonomous Jubbaland state on his re-election campaign.
Sources revealed that the caretaker president met with the newly elected federal lawmakers in Kismayo, and asked them to vote for him in the coming presidential election due to be held in mid this month.
Mr Mohamud is seeking re-election after his mandated four-year-term in office has expired in last September. The incumbent president is facing tough contest from his predecessor Sharif Sheikh Ahmed.
Former head of CRD – Center for Research and Dialogue Jibril Ibrahim Abdulle, a fierce critic to the sitting president is among the leading presidential candidates vying for the president of Somalia.
