Puntland VP in Mogadishu for election talks after row
The vice president of the northeastern semi-autonomous region of Puntland Abdihakim Omar Amey has arrived in Somali capital Mogadishu for election talks with speaker and Int’l community.
Puntland’s VP is having in depth talks and separate meetings with Somali leaders and international diplomats, including United Nations envoy for Somalia Michael Keating, reliable sources said.
The trip of Puntland vice president in Mogadishu came after the country’s electoral commission has opened a lower house election for the clans hailing from northern Somalia.
International community is meditating the talks, and is expected to seek a solution for the deadlock over the lower house power sharing model between Puntland and Somali federal government.
