Suspected U.S. warplanes bomb Al Shabaab camps in Somalia
Suspected U.S. military jets have launched an airstrike on Al Shabaab training camps in southern Somalia on Friday, and officials and local residents said.
After the air raid, foreign troops backed by Somali commandos units swooped into Dugulle area, about 48Km away from the southern town of Qoryoley in Lower Shabelle region, sources said.
The allied troops were reportedly encountered a resistance as they engaged in a fierce gunfight with the Al Qaeda-linked Al shabaab fighters in the area.
A local resident in Dugulle, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Radio Shabelle that they could heard intense gunfire and explosions as a result of the airstrike and the ground combat.
