Ex Afmadow DC and his father sentenced to death in Jilib
Al Shabaab militants in Jilib town of southern Somalia have sentenced former Afmadow district commissioner Abdi Samad to death penalty for working with Somali federal government.
The same sentence was given to the father of Abdi Samad who served as the head of Afmadow intelligence unit by the court of Al Shabaab in Jilib, a main rebel-held stronghold in Somalia.
After the sentences, militants in pick-ups mounted with loudspeakers have noticed to the local residents their court decision, calling them to attend the execution of the government officials.
Independent sources said the former Afmadow DC and his father are expected to be executed in the coming days in Jilib district in middle Jubba region of southern Somalia.
The two officials have been abducted by Al shabaab during an attack on Afmadow town last month, and were taken to Jilib district, where they are currently held and awaiting to face their death.
