Al Shabaab claims credit for car bomb blast in Mogadishu
Al Shabaab has claimed credit for a car bomb explosion in Somali capital that killed a senior military officer working for UAE’s embassy in Mogadishu.
According to pro-al shabaab media outlets, a UAE-trained military officer was killed in a bomb attached to his vehicle which exploded at Manabolio junction in Mogadishu on Wednesday.
Three other soldiers who were onboard the car have sustained sever wounds in the blast and have been transported to a nearby hospital for media treatment, a police officer, told Radio Shabelle.
Mogadishu has witnessed in the past few months frequent attacks by Al Shabaab as the city is preparing to host a presidential election scheduled to be held November 30.
