Somali president warns further election disturbance
Somali president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud called for tight security around the electoral stations in the country after gunmen loyal to sports minister has disrupted voting in Jowhar.
Mr Mohamud has instructed the security agencies to ban the candidates’ bodyguards from entering the polling stations, in a bid to prevent further disruption of the lower house ballot.
Somali president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has thanked AMISOM and SNA for their commitment and role of securing the ongoing lower house election in the whole nation.
Somalia is voting for its next parliament and set to hold a presidential election later this month, despite Al Shabaab threats and internal disputes over the electoral process.
