Blast at police checkpoint in Mogadishu kills two
At least two people are reportedly killed, two others were wounded in a land mine explosion at a police checkpoint in Somali capital on Sunday, witnesses and police said.
Assailants believed to be Al Shabaab members have planted an IED at the police checkpoint near Hamarweyne’s Textile Market, killing two and wounding two others.
Several passerby civilians are said to have been wounded in the land mine blast, which police said was responsible for the Al Qaeda-linked Al Shabaab militants.
Local authority did not comment on the police checkpoint bombing in Hamarweyne district. Mogadishu has seen increasing deadly attacks by Al Shabaab in the past.
