Somalia: Elder calls on caretaker president to quit
A Somali traditional elder has called on the country’s caretaker president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to step down, accusing him incompetence in leadership during his four-year tenure in office.
Speaking at a TV talk show, the traditional elder Mohamed Weli said Somali people believe that the outgoing president will no longer be able to lead the nation in the next 4 years, if he is elected again.
On the other hand, the elder agreed that the federal government led by president Hassan Sheikh has accomplished to re-establish the country’s diplomatic relations with the world after 2 decades.
Ugaas Mohamed Weli said the president has failed to fix the domestic challenges, mainly the national security, Al shabaab threats and ailing economy in the past four years he was in power.
