Radio Shabelle statement on Ex NISA chief coercion
The management of Shabelle Media Network (SMN) has on Friday released an immediate press release over an intimidation made by Ex Somali Intellgence agency chief Abdirahman Turyare.
Gen Abdirahman Turyare has made the threats on a phone call with the founder and chairman of Shabelle Media Network HE Abdimalik Yusuf Mohamud on Thursday.
Former head of Somali Intelligence and security agency (NISA) has threatened SMN chairman to shut down again the independent Radio Station and arrest its staff.
Turyare’s threats followed a report by the station on the unlawful eviction of the network from its former compound near Mogadishu airport by Somali Govt forces.
Shabelle Media Network has been housing and operating the compound for years under an agreement with Somali land and air transport ministry.
The building is now a resident for NISA’s former chief Gen Abdirahman Turyare, a close relative to Somalia’s caretaker president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
