Al-shabab stages separate raids in Lower Shabelle
Reports reaching us from Lower Shabelle region indicate the Al shabaab fighters have conducted a number of ambush attacks in the region, targeting AMISOM military bases.
The first attack took place at No-50 village, after militants armed with AK-47 rifles and RPGs staged a massive assault on army station run by UPDF forces serving with AMISOM.
The Al shabaab fighters have also attacked a local militiamen station in the area, with reports that both sides engaged in a deadly gunfight that raged on for several hours.
At least four militia fighters died in the Al shabaab ambush, according to sources.
Al shabaab stepped up its attacks on Somali and AMISOM military bases in Lower Shabelle region in southern Somalia as the country preparing for an election later this year.
