Three killed, 2 wounded in Mogadishu car bomb blast

At least three people were killed and two other persons wounded in a powerful car bomb blast in Mogadishu, Somali capital on Sunday evening, spokesman said.

Speaking to Radio Shabelle, the spokesman of Somalia’s internal security ministry said explosives-laden car has detonated near army convoy at Daljirka Dahson area.

He said the car bomb was intended to target the army convoy, but was foiled after the security forces have opened fire on it, prompting to a premature explosion.

Three people, among them the bomber lost their lives in the blast. No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.

Al Shabaab has conducted similar attacks in Mogadishu in the past, targeting high profile hotels and government buildings as the country is heading towards an election in Nov 30.
