Hir-Shabelle parliament to vote for a new president

The lawmakers of the newly established parliament of Hir-Shabelle administration are set to elect a president and vice president in an election expected to kick off today  in Jowhar town on Monday.

Three candidates – Mohamed Abdi Aware, Ali Abdullah Osoble and Ali Arale are standing in the crucial presidential election scheduled to begin later today in at the meeting hall in Jowhar town.

Reliable sources in the city said one of the three presidential hopefuls is a close ally to the president of Somalia, and he is likely to win the election of Hir-Shabelle state president.

Somalia’s incumbent president is seeking second term in office and he announced his candidacy for the president last April, as his mandated four-year term expires later this year.
