Six killed as Al Shabaab attack Mandera town
SIX people have been killed in what is believed to be an attack by Islamist terror group Al Shabaab.
Local media reports one other person was seriously injured in the attack on a residential area in northeastern Kenya.
Police say the attackers shot residents of the area at random and threw grenades, according to local media.
Mandera county governer Ali Roba, where the attack took place, confirmed six people had been killed by the suspected jihadis, branding it “sad”.
It took place around 2AM local time in Mandera town, located on the Kenya-Somalia border.
The region has seen cross-border raids by militants in the past but police operations mean there had been a lull in attacks.
