Slain Radio Shabelle reporter laid to rest in Mogadishu

The slain Radio Shabelle journalist Abdulaziz Mohamed Ali Hajji has been laid to rest at a graveyard in his hometown in Somali capital, Mogadishu on Wednesday morning.

Late Abdulaziz Mohamed Ali Hajji, who was a veteran humanitarian reporter and producer for the independent Radio Shabelle has been killed in Mogadishu’s Yaqshid district on Wednesday afternoon by unknown gunmen on motorbike.

Fellow media workers, family members and relatives have attended the funeral service which was held inside the Ex School Politicia compound in Mogadishu on Wednesday.

Mohamed Ibrahim Mo’alimo, the secretary general of NUSOJ who was among the mourners has condemned the murder of Hajji and sent his heartfelt condolences to family and friend the murdered journalist.

Somalia is one of the most dangerous countries for media workers, 59 journalists have been killed since 1992, soon after a civil war began in the Horn of Africa nation, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists.
