Somali president’s four-year term ends

The constitutional term of Somalia’s president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has ended on Saturday, 10th September, 2016 after serving four-years in the presidential office.

Somali president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud was elected in Mogadishu in September 10, 2012 by lawmakers, first election inside Somalia for more than 40 years.

Despite his constitutional mandate ends today, the president may still be in office until early next November, whereby a new President will be sworn in and takes the power.

The outgoing Somali president has spent most of his four-year tenure the war on Al Shabaab, rebuilding the country’s national and re-establishing diplomatic relations.
