AU troops convoy targeted in IED Blast in Somalia

A bomb has ripped through a military convoy carrying Ethiopian soldiers serving with African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) in Bakol region on Wednesday.

A fierce gunfight erupted after the remote-controlled land mine blast struck the army convoy at an area located between Rabdhure and Bur-Dhuhulle villages.

The fighting broke out between Al Shabaab fighters and the AMISOM troops, with reports both sides engaged in deadly gunfire continued for several hours.

Local residents, told Radio Shabelle over the phone that they could see an armored vehicle belonging to Ethiopian soldiers burnt in the roadside explosion.

There was no any information on the casualty figures as both sides did not comment on the combat and the blast in Bakool region, south west of Somalia.
