Al Shabaab warns public taking Govt issued IDs

Al Shabaab has warned residents in Somali capital, Mogadishu of obtaining Identity cards issued by the local government of Benadir region for new measures to curb the insecurity.

The spokesman of Al Shabaab Sheikh Ali Mohamud Rageh (Sheikh Ali Dheere) threatened residents with harsh punishment for taking the national IDs from the federal government.

Ali Dheere has also warned the public at large  to stay away from key buildings and hotels frequented by MPs, ministers and other high-ranking government officials in Mogadishu.

The warning comes day after Al Shabaab has detonated a large truck bomb at SYL hotel near the presidential palace in Mogadishu, that killed at least 28 people, mostly civilians.

Tuesday’s attack has left dozens of people, including ministers and lawmakers wounded.
