Land Mine Blast injures Five Soldiers in Somalia

At least five Somali soldiers were wounded on Thursday when a remote-controlled land mine blast struck an army base in Bulo Mareer village in southern Somalia, reports said.

Local residents said loud explosion was heard in the area early on Thursday, targeting Somali military base. Five soldiers were injured in the IED attack.

The wounded soldiers have been airlifted by AMISOM to Mogadishu for medical treatment.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, but Al Shabaab has in the past conducted similar bombs in Mogadishu and elsewhere in Somalia.
