NISA frees Radio Shabelle Journalists from prison

Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) freed two Radio Shabelle Journalists from its Godka Jilicow prison in Mogadishu on Friday.

Radio Shabelle journalists, Ali Ahmed Abdulle and Mohamed Adan Ibrahim, who were arrested for their journalism work on Thursday evening in the line of duty.

Abdulle, head of news of Radio Shabelle, and Ibrahim, reporter of Radio Shabelle, were detained over report regarding Al Shabaab capture of Lafole neighbourhood near Mogadishu.

The top management of Shabelle Media Network has thanked NISA boss Abdullah Gafow Mohamud for the release of the journalists from Godka Jilicow detention center.

Radio Shabelle, a popular independent station based in Mogadishu came to an air and resumed its broadcasting after a brief shut down by NISA forces during the raid last night.
