Auditor General probes Radio Shabelle corruption reports

The Auditor General of Somali federal government Dr Nur Farah Jimale said his office is keeping an eye on Radio Shabelle’s report which accuses finance minister of corruption.

Mr Jimale said he will launch a probe Shorty into the case and government official who is found guilty of corruption and fraud on public budgets will brought into justice.

“It is unacceptable a minister or a government official to embezzle the public fund and commit power abuse due the transitional period,” Auditor General said.

Shabelle Media Network has obtained a rare document disclosing tax revenue corruption by Somalia’s Finance minister Mohamed Aden Ibrahim (Farkeeti).

The statement of the Auditor General comes as Somalia is in transitional period since the current federal government’s mandate expires in October, by the end of this year.
