Kenya pledges Sh2 million reward on Al Shabaab Suspect over Lamu attacks

The government has pledged Sh2 million reward to any person with information that can lead to the arrest of wanted terrorist Abdullahi Abdi Sheikh.

In a notice, the Interior ministry and office of the Inspector General Joseph Boinnet described Abdullahi as armed and dangerous.

Police accuse Abdullahi of plotting a series of terror attacks including the botched assault on Baure KDF camp in Lamu.

He is also believed to be a terrorist operative affiliated to Jaysh Ayman cell – linked to attacks at Boni forest, Lamu County.

Authorities have further urged Kenyans to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity or character to any police station for appropriate action.

Abdullahi is believed to be a Somali national who is in his early 20s.

His image was obtained from a video that was recovered from an Al-Shabaab terrorist who was killed when security forces repulsed the Baure attack.

Reports further say items found at an abandoned al Shabaab camp in Boni Forest by Kenya security teams, positively identified him.

Intelligence reports says Abdullahi is a terror operative with Jaysh Ayman responsible for recent attacks targeting security officers in Lamu.

The state said those with information can call 0202199151, 0702432877, and emergency numbers 999 or 112.

He is also said to be operating between Somalia and the volatile North Eastern region.
