Somali army ‘repel’ Al Shabaab raid in Somalia

Somali military commander says SNA forces have warded off an Al Shabaab ambush attack on army base in Lower Shabelle region, killing one militant, and injuring two others.

Abdisalam Ato, a senior Somali military chief in the region has confirmed the attack, saying the Somali National Army (SNA) forces were able to resist and push the militants away.

The attack took place at a semi-forest area near Bulo-Marer town on Saturday, and both sides have claimed victory over the assault, according to sources spoke to Radio Shabelle.

“There was no any casualties on our side, “ Ato said.

Meanwhile, Al Shabaab commander, told pro-militant media outlets that the fighters have killed scores of Somali soldiers during the raid on the army outpost near Bulo Marer area.

However, there were no any independent sources that could verify the exact casualty figures on both warring sides and local civilians as well.
