Ex DC says South West state fuelling Marka unrest

The sacked district commissioner of Marka Mohamed Osman Yarisow accused the interim South West State administration (ISWA) of fuelling city’s hostility.

He said several high-ranking officials at the (ISWA) with hidden agenda are orchestrating the unrest and continuing long-hours curfew in the Marka town.

“Why there is no bomb attacks in Barawe, Qoryoley and Afgoye, I believe this problems in Marka city is a politically motivated issue,” Yarisw questioned.

Mr Yarisow also said South West State ministers housing at AMISOM troops’ bases in Marka have failed of maintaining the city’s overall security and stop the clan conflict.

Marka, a coastal city which lies about 100 kilometers away fell to Somali and AMISOM forces in 2012, nearly 7 years of under Al Shabaab rule.
