Militants abduct vehicles transporting Khat near Dhobley

Al Shabaab militants are reportedly hijacked two vehicles transporting the narcotic leaves popularly known as (Khat) outside Dhobley town in southern Somalia on Thursday.

Reports from the Dhobley town suggest heavily armed fighters laid an ambush attack on the vehicles, opening fire on the occupants before the seizing them forcefully.

The two minivan left Dhobley town shortly before their seizure. The town is currently under full control of Jubbaland state soldiers and Kenyan defense forces (KDF).

The fate of the vehicles and passengers remain unknown after Al Shabaab took them to undisclosed location in Lower Jubba region, close to Kenyan border.
